Belgian chocolate has been around for centuries and it is in fact one of the most, if not the most, luxurious chocolate around today. Most chocolate companies use Belgian chocolate as a mould for their own. So just why exactly is Belgian chocolate so luxurious?
Why Belgian Chocolate is The Cream of the Crop
Belgian chocolate is unique thanks to its superb quality ingredients and its old fashioned techniques. Most chocolate companies these days create their chocolate within a factory, but the best Belgian chocolate is created by hand.
Belgian chocolate has been famous since the 18th century but it wasn’t until 1912 that its popularity really soared. That was when a new process was introduced by a man named Jean Neuhaus, which created the first ever ‘pralines’. Belgian Pralines are not the same ones as people associate with the ones in places such as America however; they generally tend to have quite a few different fillings. These include hazelnut, nougat, coffee cream, fruit, and an extra chocolate filling.
The main difference between Belgian chocolate and other forms of chocolate is that when the chocolate arrives at most factories, it is in solid form. However with Belgian chocolate it is delivered in heated tanker trucks not too long after it has been tampered. This means that because the chocolate has not had much chance to cool down, it keeps much of its aroma and qualities whilst it is being made.
Belgium chocolate still comes in the three different varieties including milk, dark and white chocolate. With its dark chocolate version there can be anything up to 70% cocoa in it which makes it simply the best chocolate for your health. The quality never falters no matter which type of chocolate is created, and it seems to have an extremely smooth texture to it which really melts in the mouth.
Generally the best Belgian chocolate is made by hand, but there are some Belgian chocolate companies which have started to use factories to make it. You can notice the difference and so if possible for the best flavours try and find Belgian chocolate which has been made by hand.
Usually Belgian chocolate is more expensive than other chocolate, but people tend to pay that little bit extra for something as good as what Belgium chocolate is. There really is no other chocolate quite like Belgium chocolate so if you are buying the chocolate for yourself or as a gift, you are sure to be rewarded!
